STORYLINE:

The Equalizer (2014) stars Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, a former black-ops operative who seeks to live a quiet life. However, when he meets Teri, a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by. With a renewed sense of justice, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and uses his skills to take down anyone who brutalizes the helpless. As he dispenses his brand of justice, McCall's actions attract the attention of dangerous forces, leading to a high-stakes battle that tests his resolve and ingenuity.

STAFF REVIEW:

The Equalizer (2014) is a gripping action-thriller that benefits greatly from Denzel Washington's powerful performance. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film combines intense action sequences with a compelling narrative about justice and redemption. Washington's portrayal of Robert McCall is both nuanced and formidable, capturing the character's quiet strength and moral complexity. The film's pacing keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, and the well-choreographed action scenes are both brutal and satisfying. The supporting cast, including Marton Csokas as the menacing antagonist Teddy, adds depth to the story. The Equalizer successfully reinvents the classic TV series, providing a modern take that resonates with contemporary audiences.
