- World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award: "Contracorriente" (Undertow), directed by Javier Fuentes-León, a Peruvian drama about a married fisherman struggling to reconcile his devotion to his male lover within his town's rigid traditions.

- World Cinema Documentary Audience Award: "Wasteland," directed by Lucy Walker, a documentary following artist Vik Muniz as he works with the "catadores" — pickers of recyclable materials — of the world's largest garbage dump in Brazil.


Directing, Screenwriting, and Special Jury Awards

- Directing Award, U.S. Dramatic: Eric Mendelsohn for "3 Backyards," a film that tells the story of three residents of the same suburban town over the course of one seemingly perfect Autumn day.

- Directing Award, U.S. Documentary: Leon Gast for "Smash His Camera," a documentary about the life and career of infamous paparazzo Ron Galella.

- Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award: Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini for "Winter's Bone," for their compelling adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's novel.
