➱ STORYLINE:
Released in 2023, "Poor Things" tells an extraordinary tale of the bizarre progress of a young female, Bella Baxter, played by Emma Stone in this dark comedy. In this movie, Bella Baxter is brought back to life by an eccentric, yet highly intelligent scientist played by Willem Defoe named Dr. Godwin Baxter. Bella is hungry to learn about the world and the things she doesn't yet know or understand.

"Poor Things", directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is a dark comedy that shows an eccentric "mad" scientist in a film somewhat reminiscent of both Shelly's "Frankenstein" novel from the early 1800s and Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" with more dark humor and hilarity. However, it's a completely unique and dark take on bringing back the dead. Young Bella ends up becoming an advocate for equality and liberation It's an unpretentious, whimsical, and classically funny film that highlights the versatile acting talents of Defoe, Stone, and Ruffalo. It's overall, a fresh take over all other "Frankenstein"-like films.
