Jim Varney was an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his character Ernest P. Worrell, who became a cultural icon in the 1980s and 1990s. Varney's portrayal of Ernest, known for his catchphrase "KnowhutImean, Vern?" began in a series of television commercials before transitioning into a feature film franchise.

The Ernest character was beloved for his bumbling antics and good-hearted nature, leading to movies such as "Ernest Goes to Camp" (1987) and "Ernest Saves Christmas" (1988). Sadly, Jim Varney passed away from lung cancer on February 10, 2000 at 50 years old.

Varney's versatility as an actor was evident in his ability to bring laughter and joy through his comedic performances, but he also took on dramatic roles that showcased his range. In addition to his work as Ernest, Varney lent his voice to numerous animated characters, most notably as Slinky Dog in the "Toy Story" series.
