STORYLINE:

Hidden Figures (2016) tells the inspiring true story of three African-American women mathematicians—Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson—who worked at NASA and played pivotal roles in one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Set against the backdrop of the 1960s space race and the civil rights movement, the film highlights their struggles and triumphs as they break barriers and prove their worth in a predominantly white, male-dominated field. Their contributions not only helped to achieve this monumental event but also changed the face of NASA and American society.
