His football career extended to the professional leagues, where he played as a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders and later, the BC Lions, before retiring in 1974 to pursue his passion for acting.


Weathers made a memorable impact on cinema as Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" series, embodying the spirit of a champion with charisma and depth. His versatility shone through in roles such as Colonel Al Dillon in "Predator," Chubbs Peterson in "Happy Gilmore," and the voice of Combat Carl in the "Toy Story" franchise. On television, he left a mark with performances in "Street Justice," a humorous portrayal of himself in "Arrested Development," and as Greef Karga in "The Mandalorian," earning an Emmy nomination for the latter.


Beyond acting, Weathers' directorial ventures and contributions to the narrative of sports through his voice work with NFL Films highlight his broad artistic influence.
