➱ STORYLINE:
Coming to America (1988) follows the story of Akeem Joffer, the crown prince of the wealthy African nation of Zamunda. Unhappy with his arranged marriage, Akeem travels to Queens, New York, with his loyal friend Semmi to find a bride who will love him for who he is, not for his status or wealth. Posing as a poor foreign student working at a fast-food restaurant, Akeem encounters a variety of colorful characters and experiences the challenges and humor of adjusting to life in America. His quest leads him to Lisa McDowell, the daughter of the restaurant's owner, and Akeem must win her heart without revealing his true identity.
