➱ STORYLINE:

Avatar (2009) is set in the mid-22nd century on Pandora, a lush, habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system. The story follows Jake Sully, a paraplegic former Marine who is selected to participate in the Avatar Program, which enables humans to interact with the indigenous Na'vi people through genetically engineered bodies. As Jake integrates with the Na'vi and learns their ways, he falls in love with Neytiri, a Na'vi woman, and finds himself torn between his duty to the human colonizers and his new life with the Na'vi. The film explores themes of environmentalism, imperialism, and the conflict between technological advancement and nature.
